First, figure out which stage is slow

Downloading a video generally goes through two stages — parsing the video info, then downloading the source file. Figure out which one is dragging:

• If pasting the link and tapping Download takes forever to show the cover and title, the parsing step is slow
• If the cover and title show up fine but the progress bar crawls or freezes after you tap download, the file transfer itself is slow

Common causes of slow parsing

• Unstable network: try switching networks (Wi-Fi to mobile data or vice versa) to rule out a local issue
• Too many browser tabs or background downloads competing for bandwidth: close what you don't need
• Rate limiting from too many requests in a short window: if you've parsed a lot of links back-to-back, a basic rate limit kicks in temporarily — waiting a bit usually clears it

Common causes of slow or stuck downloads

• The source server itself responding slowly: this is outside ReelGrab's control — the original file lives on TikTok's own servers, and if their server is under load or the network route is long, speed suffers accordingly
• Large file size: HD, watermark-free files are bigger than compressed versions, and longer or higher-quality videos naturally take longer — that's expected, not a bug
• Network throttling: some public Wi-Fi, campus, or office networks throttle individual download connections — try mobile data or home broadband to compare

Things worth trying

1. Switch networks — usually the single most effective fix, and the impact is often bigger than expected
2. Avoid peak hours if you notice slowdowns consistently at a certain time
3. Download one file at a time rather than several at once — more simultaneous downloads means less bandwidth per file
4. If it's stuck with no progress for over a minute or two, cancel and re-parse the link rather than waiting it out — this fixes most stalls faster than patience does
